We got a hard freeze on the Mississippi Gulf Coast last night. Severe weather warnings and all, we got it. That means our box also known as a travel trailer, has begun to resemble a refrigerator.
The dogs went outside today around noon, and were out for four hours. Sissy thought she was surely going to freeze to death despite her coat. Red wasn’t much happier about it. Last night, Red was noticeably stiff and uncomfortable, which managed to get her onto the bed and under a blanket for the night. That meant it was crowded in that bed! (Red weighs in at 65 lbs & 9 years old, much lighter than the 85 lbs. of her youth.)
I was paranoid about frozen pipes and broken plumbing with everything so exposed, so it was all drained and antifreeze put into the critical points. That isn’t very convenient for the 2 days we’ll have it like that (its supposed to start warming up again on Wednesday) but its a whole lot less inconvenient than it would be to re-plumb this travel trailer. Hopefully, we didn’t miss anything important, but we’ll find out tomorrow when water is restored.
The cold has everyone indoors, and the little ceramic heater is chugging away. I’m wearing a sweatshirt indoors, it’s not all that warm.
I am just glad we are in the South. Imagine what it would be like in Fargo, ND!
