Stuff and our attachment to it
One thing about living small, there isn’t a lot of room for stuff. Still, even after downsizing, our small home was chock full of stuff, and we have more stuff in our storage unit. After these months of living in … Continue reading

Off grid, fall out shelters, underground shelters, radiation havens
The meltdown in Japan has a lot of people worried. They have reason to be. But in addition to the realistic and reasonable worries, based on facts, there is also the work of scare-mongers and doomsayers coming into play. It’s … Continue reading
Going off grid thoughts
Going off grid seems to be the catchy phrase of 2011. It’s a great idea, but after doing some research, it isn’t exactly inexpensive, simple, or perhaps even an option for most people. Why is that? It seems that the … Continue reading

Be careful not to push your luck, right?
Pushing your luck. I’m not sure exactly why that cliche is phrased like that, but it probably has something to do with someone named Murphy. It’s been like that a lot lately, not that it has a thing to do … Continue reading

An addition to the kitchen?
Overstock.com got my attention with a refurbished Cook’s Essential convection oven with numerous capabilities, including a rotisserie, slow cook, convection, and normal “toaster” oven. With a .9 cubic foot capacity, it was the largest one in my price range. I also was really attracted to the idea of a rotisserie, even though I knew it would never be able to hold even a small turkey, the ability to do chicken, pork, beef, cornish game hens, and maybe even a turkey breast was appealing. Holidays, gifts and STUFF!
We live in a small and cramped space. Some days, it feels very, very cramped. We already have too much stuff and too little space that is too poorly designed. So, here comes the holidays. Society expects us to celebrate … Continue reading

Living small, magazines and books
I’ll admit it, I’m a pack rat by nature. I save STUFF. I know I’ll need it later. One of the things I’m prone to saving is magazines. I do use them later! (I’m still looking for a macadamia nut … Continue reading

Getting rid of stuff
It’s hard to give up your “stuff” sometimes. We get attached to the material things we surround ourselves with, and I’m gifted (??) with a tendency to be a pack rat “just-in-case.” I have concluded one thing though. What good … Continue reading

Refrigerators in the micro kitchen
Months ago, when we were first preparing to move into the travel trailer, we discovered that the full sized refrigerator it was equipped with was beautiful, looked like new, and did not work. That left us with a problem of … Continue reading
Gadgets and gizmos-RV stores or where else?
